what's this issue all about?
The dangerous energy petition is a ballot issue proposed by a group called Pro Energy Ohio, LLC. It would take $57,000,000 from the City of Columbus general fund, which is primarily funded by income taxes. The Columbus Dispatch called it a secretive group with no support from Ohio environmental and sustainability groups.
The Columbus City Attorney found the issue so vague and flawed, he advised Council not to place it on the ballot.
Unfortunately, the groups has promised to sue the City of Columbus and force the issue on the November 5th ballot.
